Why did you chose your major? I chose a biology major because I want to work with animals in the future, and having a biology major allows me to have a good platform to do that.
Why did you choose Millersville? I’m a transfer student. I decided to transfer here because my previous school was not a good fit for me and I wasn’t happy. Millersville provided a place that felt more like a home. The school also has a good biology program.
What is your favorite memory here at Millersville? My favorite memory here is meeting amazing people and making new friends.
What are you involved in on campus? I am involved in UAB (University Activities Board) and the Millersville University Women’s Choir, Cantilena. I also have a job at the Registrar’s office.
What positions have you held in Cantilena? I’m the current treasurer of Cantilena.
Are there any future events that you are planning for in Cantilena that you are excited for? I am excited to possibly plan some fundraiser events for Cantilena and I am excited for the final two concerts of the year. Our first concert of the semester is on Friday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. and is based on swing music and 1940s radio shows. Our final concert on Sunday, May 3 at 2:30 p.m., is called “Mostly Mozart” and features Mozart’s choral pieces including the “Mozart Requiem.”
How would people join Cantilena? You would have to email Dr. Jeffery Gemmel (Jeffrey.Gemmell@millersville.edu) or join at the very beginning of the semester by coming to an early meeting. Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a dress rehearsal before the concerts.
Do you have a mantra that you live by? “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
