It’s that time again! When it’s cold in the morning, but hot in the afternoon, and then cold again at night. That’s right, it’s finally Fall! Time to wear chunky knit sweaters, drink pumpkin and apple themed drinks, but most importantly… it’s the season for curling up in bed with a fluffy blanket and logging onto Netflix for a movie night. Whether you are in between classes, or having a movie night with the girls, here are some funny, romanic, and action packed movies that are a MUST watch this season:

Tall Girl

Brand new to Netflix, Tall Girl takes place in New Orleans with actress Ava Michelle as the main character and tall girl Jodi Kreyman. When a new foreign exchange student comes to town, “It’s like sharks to chum,” says co-star Sabrina Carpenter who plays Jodi’s “perfect” older sister Harper Kreyman. As Jodi’s story of how her life as a taller girl in high school unfolds, she goes on a journey of self-love and discovery that will definitely make you smile. Alongside Jodi are her two partners in crime, Jack Dunckleman, and Freeda, played by Griffin Gluck and Anjelika Washington. And of course, who can forget the designated mean girl Kimmy Stitcher. This movie is filled to the brim with funny and inspiring moments for all. Remember, even when everyone brings you down, do what Jodi does, and stand tall.

Someone Great

Not all relationships are forever, and this movie is a great way of showing it. Jenny Young, played by the talented Gina Rodriguez, is living in New York City with besties Blair Helms and Erin Kennedy, played by Brittany Snow and DeWanda Wise. She was dating this totally cute guy named Nate Davis for nine years, when one day Jenny landed her dream job and Nate ends up breaking up with her. Someone Great is an amazing movie that shows Jenny’s heartbreak after losing someone she loved, and how she was able to move on with the help of her friends. I know personally, it’s never easy to break up with someone you used to love, but this movie showed me that it’s not the end of the world and the heart always heals.

What Happened to Monday

In a utopia where families are only allowed to have one child, seven sisters fight to have the right to survive in the world. Being named each day of the week by their grandfather, these seven girls learn that in order to keep each other safe, they must all go under the identity of Karen Settman. As time goes on, no one suspects that each day of the week is a different girl. Monday goes out on Monday, Tuesday on Tuesday, and so forth. Each one with their own personalities, but one identity to display. Until one day… Monday goes missing. What will happen next? Well, I guess you will have to check out this action-packed and suspenseful movie yourself.

Wine Country

Imagine you and your best friends in the future decide to go on a vacation to celebrate someone’s birthday, what do think would happen? Where would you go? For this group of women, it was Napa Valley or also known as Wine Country. They first met working in Chicago at Antonio’s Pizzeria, but being life long friends is never easy. When a weekend trip makes each girl realize how much they have kept from each other, it’s a hilarious and crazy road of recovery back to their friendship. Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, and Tina Fey really bring women empowerment to the next level in this film. From cooking shows, turning 50, matching shirts, and the paella, this movie has it all.

Coco

Spooky season is around the corner, and what better way to get in the mood than with Disney’s Pixar’s own Coco. The story of a young boy named Miguel Rivera takes place in Mexico on La Dia de Los Muertos. Striving to be a musician, Miguel does everything in his power to become just like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. The land of the living is very different from the land of the dead, and Miguel found that out first hand when he magically transported there. Despite his family’s disapproval of music, Miguel goes on an amazing journey to find out who he truly is, and what family means to him. This movie always makes me cry, and hug my family a little tighter. It’s simply perfect and a must-watch if you haven’t already.

Whether you’re having a movie night with the girls, or staying in with your cup of tea, these movies will be ones to watch!
