Six Ways to be Productive When You Know You’re Not Gonna Learn in Class Today

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami chapter.

1. Read about politics

Get yourself informed. That way, you don’t have to rely on the footnotes and hashtags of the political world. Use this is the time to read about, oh I don’t know, how Betsy DeVos is less qualified to be Secretary of Education than Ms. Frizzle from “The Magic School Bus.”

2. Shop for upcoming holidays

Birthdays, Christmas, weddings, it’s all going to happen at some point, so you might as well start making a list on Etsy. That way, when the time comes, the purchase is just a click and credit card away. Warning: Etsy pages can cause severe fits of high spending.

3. Get your life together (professionally)

Sure, I could be listening to the lecture I’ve heard every year since I began school, but let’s use this time to get my shit together for everything else in life. Write out when your exams, essays, presentations, etc., are due so you don’t forget. Schedule your appointments at the career center to work on getting that internship before the summer rolls around.

4. Get your life together (Personally)

Why surf the web later to figure out what to watch later today? Start looking around at listicles and websites for ideas. Go ahead and make that list of T.V. shows and movies to start watching while you wait for “Game of Thrones” to start up again. Or just plan the watch “Game of Thrones” again (or for the first time). This Her Campus writer is a proud supporter of binge watching, especially when it comes to “Game of Thrones.”

5. Do homework for that other class you goofed off in

Let’s face it: we didn’t do the reading, write that blog post, etc., so let’s get that done. There’s no work due in this class today. You might as well make up for that class you spent watching videos of puppies meeting babies for the first time.

6. Write for Her Campus!

You heard me! You reached the end of this list and probably thought, “wow I could have written something better!” or, “so cool, I want to do this!” Well then, write, I dare you. Please beat the heck out of me with your writing skills. Do it, my editors will love you for it.

With love, always, forever, and 5 minutes from now,

Emily
