Where would you wear this $2,445 waffle-esque dress?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

If you’re anything like me, a senior with a mild studying problem and serious procrastination problem, you might have started visiting your favorite stores online to look for the perfect graduation dress. Last night I didn’t have to submit the rough draft of my final project until midnight so I had time to kill. And the browser was already up, so what the heck? Everybody’s doing it. I started searching.

Tobi? Too tight.

Free People? Too day-drinky.

Forever 21? Too thin.

Nasty Gal? I feel like the word “nasty” hints that my graduation dress probably won’t be found here.

Then my housemate sent me a Facebook message of pure gold from Nordstrom; not literal gold, but the kind of mesh, open-boxy-thing-dress kind of gold. Yes. For just $2,445 (ships free!) you can have this one-of-a-kind couture Junya Watanabe Monofilament Mesh Dress.

Here’s where my procrastination deepened— the comments section is hilarious. One woman named ilovebreakfast from New Jersey sarcastically claims to have bought this dress and worn it to a party.

“I was invited to a Halloween party that had a costume competition for the most amount of money spent trying to make myself (and my partner) go as inanimate objects that go together,” she says. Of course she and her partner went as a waffle and maple syrup, with her dogs dressed as strawberries in tow.

Another commenter, Phae123, claims to not have had such beautiful luck. “A little boy [started] opening all of the ‘boxes’ looking for prizes. This created an awkward situation, and I am less enthused about wearing this dress again,” she writes.

This might not be the perfect graduation dress (my housemate lied and said it was hers), but I did fulfill my designated procrastination time. Unfortunately, there are currently only six reviews of this little number, so I’ll just be sitting here waiting for the rest of the Internet to catch on and leave some silly comments. I want to hear more about this dress!

What do you think?

Update on May 10, 2015:It appears that the six reviews of this dress on the Nordstrom website, some of which were mentioned in this article on April 16, have been deleted. It is not clear as to whether this is Nordstrom’s doing or the users’. However, four new reviews have been made that light-heartedly poke fun at the dress, and we’re still giggling in between studying for exams.
