As a student at Miami University – or just a college girl in general – our closets, hampers, and dressers tend to be overflowing with clothes. We always want to look good whenever we go out, but more times than not, we just don’t know what outfit to put on.

Take a Miami freshman for example – let’s call her Hailey – who is beginning sorority recruitment. Hailey has returned to school with twice the wardrobe she had at the beginning of the year. While she was home for break, she bought three pairs of jeans, four or five blazers for the “business casual” second round of rush, a pair of brown riding boots for the Open House days, and since every Miami girl is wearing them, some flashy necklaces and rings to stand out the other recruits. Lastly, she topped off her shopping spree with a couple cocktail dresses.

Hailey’s new, expensive wardrobe got her through rush and into her sorority of choice, but all of a sudden she gets that terrible feeling that she has nothing to wear! Then that nagging voice in your head gets started: What if another girl where’s the same dress I decide to wear? What if someone notices I wore this outfit last weekend?Should I spend more money and buy more clothes?

Hailey’s predicament is something we’ve all been through, even if it wasn’t with rush. We’ve all searched through every piece of clothing in our closets and drawers until a sea of clothes has replaced our dorm room floor. We’ve sighed in exasperation, and sadly determined we simply have nothing to wear.

This is just one issue co-founders Rohan Deuskar and Zach Davis hope to fix with their fashion insights company, Stylitics.

Stylitics is an online fashion company that launched on December 1st, 2011. Stylitics is a first of its kind Internet site that acts as your own personal stylist. You know those smartphones that everyone carries around now? Stylitics is even smarter than your phone. Well, at least it will be soon.

Stylitics is invitation only until it opens up to the general public, but I was lucky enough to receive an invitation and set up my own Stylitics page. Stylitics allows you to search the clothes that you buy and add them to your virtual closet, which is divided by different categories of clothes like “shirts and blouses” “sweaters” and “formal wear,” just to name a few. You can search clothes by retailer or brand, and you have your own personal calendar to keep track of what you wear each day.

Stylitics keeps track of what you buy, own, and wear, remembers your outfit history, and alerts you to new trends. After adding an item to your closet, Stylitics gives you a detailed page giving you information on the item and the brand.

Besides giving you information about your clothes, Stylitics gives you rewards and deals to help you save money. It gives you facts on your clothing items like average cost per wear, items worn the most, and how much your closet is worth. Perhaps Hailey only wears her riding boots once, and sees on her Stylitics page that buying another pair wouldn’t be worth the money. If what I’ve told you so far hasn’t sparked your interest, wait till the next paragraph.

The tagline for Stylitics is, “Your Style. Smarter.” As you tell Stylitics more and more about your fashion trends, the smarter it becomes. Soon, Stylitics will be able to make outfit recommendations for you, and will even allow you to message directly with clothing brands. Instead of destroying your closet every weekend trying to find the perfect outfit, Stylitics will be there to do all the work for you!

To try to make the site even more interactive and fun, Deuskar and Davis have created a point system with 50 levels. The more items you add to your closet, the more points you receive and the more levels you advance through. As you progress through the levels, you can receive achievements ranging from online badges of achievement to discounts on your clothing brands.

This all sounds so great for college girls like Hailey who can’t resist buying a new pair of shoes or a new cocktail dress every few weeks. But what was the motivation for creating Stylitics?

Co-founder Rohan Deuskar had realized that he himself didn’t have control over his own clothing style, or what his clothes were really worth. He wanted Stylitics to help marketers like himself find today’s and tomorrow’s “big thing” in fashion, while allowing people to take control over their own wardrobes and creating their own, unique styles.

Deuskar didn’t want Stylitics to help just women recreate their styles, but to help men with theirs, too. So girls, sign your men up for a Stylitics page as well, so that both of you can look good when you go out for the night!

Although keeping track of your wardrobe may seem like a lot of work, it may be worth the try. Why not spend less time aimlessly scrolling through Facebook statuses and pictures, and instead update your Stylitics page to create new outfits for yourself and receive great rewards and deals?
