As someone who spends their days tucked away in the campus library, I’ve picked up a few quick tricks to try if you need a short study break. If you feel sluggish or like you’re not accomplishing anything, it’s a good idea to take a break! Once you come back, you will be more focused and motivated.

1. Do some squats.

You don’t need to be in the gym to sneak in a *quick* workout- Do a couple squats or stretches in between rows of books, by your study area, or in the bathroom. It seems less weird when you do it, trust me.

2. Listen to a single pump-up song and take it all in.

Pick a song that’s always motivated you or made you feel positive. Take a minute to close your eyes and focus on nothing but that song; let it invigorate you so you can go back to your studying with a mission.

3. Get a drink.

An iced tea, coffee, or a smoothie can go a long way.

4. Just be.

Give yourself 3 (or 10) minutes to just sit in silence and let yourself relax. Once you come back to your studying you’ll feel more on task.
