A Free Online Revolution: Vendr

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

I know you all are with me in saying “it’s the most wonderful time of the year!”  That end-of-the-year finals stress is so close to being over and we’re about to spend five weeks of break in holiday cheer sipping on eggnog and watching White Christmas on repeat. With that being said, before we depart Oxford and officially commence our holiday celebrations, we can’t forget about selling our books back. After all, it’s a way to make a little extra bank for our holiday shopping. If you’re like me, you most likely feel ripped off by Miami after selling your books back to Shriver or Follett’s only to walk away with a mere $50 when you spent well over $200 at the start of the semester. If you share in my sentiment, why not test out a new site launched by Miami students created to alleviate this disappointment.

This new site is called Vendr. Essentially, the site functions as a simple and secure online marketplace, which allows students to buy and sell items from fellow friends of the Miami community. The company was built by students for students, to address their unique on-campus purchasing needs and habits. The three students responsible for the advent of Vendr are Andrew Krinsky who is the Founder and CEO, Brian Seckel, who is Co-Founder and Treasurer, and Alexander Manners, who is also a Co-Founder. Vendr prides itself on being a blend of the best features from Craigslist, Etsy, and Ebay while specifically targeting the college demographic. Even more appealing to our college budgets is that signing up for Vendr is absolutely free. We promise we are not lying to you about the free signup–we know Santa is still watching!

If you don’t want to take our word for it, watch this hilarious YouTube video, where Dom Mazzetti (who made a celeb appearance on Miami’s campus last Green Beer Day) shares his personal use and satisfaction with Vendr.

Everything you could ever need for your apartment or a white elephant gift for a family member can be found on this online marketplace. It features categories in automotive, bikes, books, clothes, electronics, furniture, health, home, miscellaneous, movies, office, rides, services, sports, and tickets (to performances both off and on-campus). You (and your wallet) won’t be sorry joining the online revolution today
