Alas, another year, another slew of fall fashion trends to add to your pinterest boards and inspire your online shopping carts. Besides the basics, like sweaters and cut-off jeans and booties, I’m going to talk about specific articles of clothing and accessories that you need to have in your closet this fall. The good news: they are all relatively easy to find online. The bad news: they could require a substantial investment.

1. The Fold-Over Sweater

This stylish top is equally sexy and sophisticated. Not only is it warm and comfortable, but it also accentuates your collar bone and can be worn to dress up an outfit or dress down one. You should pay around $20-25 for this type of shirt, but some stores are more on the pricey side and can charge $30-40. Try Forever21.

2. The Corduroy Skirt

If you’re looking for something to wear for a fall date or photoshoot, this skirt is perfect for you. The texture really does a lot for an outfit, especially if you’re wearing a cotton shirt, and it can usually be bought at a cheap price. Definitely experiment with different fall colors, like browns, maroons, and creams. $15-20 at H&M.

3. The Under-the-Knee Boots

People tend to forget about this type of boot because of the hype surrounding over-the-knee boots, but make no mistake – scrunched, suede boots have always been and will always be iconic. They go really well with skinny jeans and high-waisted skirts, especially if they have a bit of a heel on them. The good pairs are always pricey, though. You may have to dish out $80-100, but it is totally worth it for the comfort and chic style.

4. The Tucked Turtle Neck

This is one of the most underrated articles of clothing in many womens’ closets. As we have all seen, turtle necks are coming back in a big way. This is because they elongate your neck and therefore make you look slimmer and taller. It is perfect for business casual or a nice dinner out with friends. You can buy cheap turtle necks from PrettyLittleThing for $10-15.

5. The ¾ Flared Jeans

Yes, we are a generation of imitation. We’re taking it back to the seventies with the flared jeans trend. The only difference is that these jeans are three-quarter length, meaning that they show off your ankles and are perfect for going out. They’re best worn with heels or booties, but no matter what you wear with them, you’re guaranteed a million compliments. $40-50.

6. The Everyday Belt

This is a must-have. Really, guys. A belt will change your life. It creates the illusion of curves, even if you look like a straight eraser like me. It also adds a sense of maturity to your everyday look with its simplicity. Not to mention, one black belt can go a long way. Urban Outfitters has reliable belts for $15-20.

7. The Faux Fur Bomber Jacket

If you want to look bad*ss and boho, you have to try this jacket. Faux fur is all the rage these days and bomber jackets can be the accent to almost any outfit. You also don’t have to break the bank to buy one of these. Forever21 came out with a whole new line of jackets that will not fail to catch your eye. They can be as cheap as $25.

8. Mid-Ankle Combat Boots

Remember when combat boots were the hottest trend back in 2013? Well, they’re back and better than ever with a shortened ankle version. Usually, ladies around campus wear Doc Martens, but there are tons of knock-off brands that still give you that edginess. When worn with skirts, you’ll look killer. Your legs will thank you. Unless you’re buying Doc Martens, don’t spend more than $50 on these.

Even though you can’t afford all of these items, because, let’s be honest, we’re all struggling financially out here, just one of these pieces will send your wardrobe above and beyond. Choose wisely and keep serving!!
