Over 21 and looking for a relaxed evening filled with wine, tasty food, elegant decor, and class? Well then, it’s time to try Oxford’s newest hot spot, Cru Wine Bar and Shop, located on West Spring Street. Filled with premium drinks, a baby grand piano, and handmade furniture, Cru Wine Bar and Shop is the suave addition to the bar and restaurant scene that Oxford has been needing. This fresh new hotspot officially opened its doors for relaxation and enjoyment to the Oxford community on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Michael Patterson, owner of Patterson’s Café next door, is no stranger to the food industry. Once Ball of Oxford moved out of the space, Patterson saw a great opportunity for Cru Wine Bar and Shop. Patterson had many great resources available to him, such as the kitchen and café from Patterson’s, the water cooler from the flower shop, and a liquor license, which all contributed to his success in developing and launching the wine bar.
“[The wine bar] has been well received, and everyone is excited,” said Patterson, describing the community’s interest in the bar so far.
One of the best features about this ravishing new establishment is the fact that it is not attempting to be a college bar. No mixed drinks are served. It only sells certain liquors, and of course, is extremely proud of the 18 different bottles of wine available by the glass. Live musical performances are featured five nights a week, all of which is of a jazzy genre credited to the beautiful baby grand piano.
Apart from a very upscale atmosphere, the wine bar also has a very rustic feel. Many of the pieces of furniture are made out of recycled material, such as the bar, which is crafted from recycled barn wood and much of the decor was purchased off of Etsy. Another amazing aspect is that they sell over $40,000 in wine, coupled with their delectable food menu which offers various pizza selections, cheese boards, and popcorn options.
So, the next time you want to feel a little classy, dress to impress and head over to Cru Wine Bar and Shop for a night of delicious food, light music, and a glass of smooth and elegant wine!
