Coveted Looks From NY Fashion Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

Mercedes Benz’s New York Fashion Week completely rocked our world with a variety of jaw-dropping fall 2014 designer looks. HC is bringing you our four favorite must-see lines on the runway this year.

1) Christian SirianoSuccessful Project Runway Season 4 winner Christian Siriano graced the world with elegant, feminine silhouettes and an array of beautiful shades of grey and green. Siriano was especially big on dramatic gowns this year, showing off many princess-like dresses with fitted waistlines finished off with poofy floor-length skirts. Date party and formal inspiration, anyone?

2) Marc Jacobs

Jacobs has certainly stepped up his fashion game this year as he styled his models in primarily neutral, soft tones, like tan, soft lilac, and creamy white. Dresses were low-cut and loose-fitting, giving his pieces an elegant, yet effortless feel. Jacobs’ models sported funky bobs; their straight, choppy hair and muted makeup accentuated his soft, flowy garments. Long sweaters and matching pants in addition to scarves were also significant elements in this collection.

3) Oscar de la RentaIt was all about patterns, fur collars, vibrant colors, and flowery detail at ODLR’s show this year. Models donned short pixie cuts that were contrasted with sparkly beading, flower patterns, and gold accents. The designer, who is revered for his couture ready-to-wear collections, experimented with Disney-like ball gowns and sheer, tulle evening dresses. Some of his other standout pieces featured a fun combination of monochromatic shades, bringing life and pop to work-appropriate blouse and sweater combinations.

4) Proenza ShoulerShouler made a splash with a sea of textured green, blues, and greys. Leather and wool were mixed to create an edgy, but cozy feel. Shoulders were emphasized by oversized, yet structured cuts, styled with flared skirts. The mix of textures helped break up bulky tops, creating a funky vibe appropriate for cooler weather.
