Best and Worst Dressed at the Grammy’s

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

The 54th annual Grammy Awards aired this past Sunday, February 12th. As expected, Adele captivated us with her amazing set of pipes, Bruno Mars blew us away and Nicki Minaj freaked us out a little bit. But let’s be honest, one of our favorite things about any award show is the fashion: the good, the bad and the just plain confusing. Let’s take a look at a few of the stand-out ensembles that stole the show:

The Good:

Rihanna looked absolutely stunning in this split hemmed black dress. Simple and sexy, this creation was actually a collaboration between Rihanna herself and Emporio Armani. I can’t say I’m all that crazy about the ombre blonde hair, but the dress is a clear winner.

Carrie Underwood’s long-sleeve backless gown is quite lovely. Although perhaps a bit formal for the Grammy’s, Underwood truly impressed with a classy updo and black clutch.

As much as we don’t want to admit it, Paris Hilton is drop dead gorgeous. We’ve watched her style evolve over the years and we have to give her credit for this demure gown by Basil Soda.

The “We-can’t-really-decide-if-we-like-it.”

We love Katy Perry, don’t get us wrong. However, we know she can do better. Although it looks to be beautifully crafted, the gown is just “okay” on her. And what’s with the matching blue hair? Then again, she’s always been one to march to the beat of her own fashion drum.

Adele can do no wrong in our eyes. She’s stunning and has an equally stunning voice to match. But we can’t help but think we’ve seen her in this exact dress multiple times. Adele can afford to switch it up and get out of her “floor length, black gown” comfort zone.

The “What-the-hell-is-she-thinking?”

Nicki Minaj: Between this dress & her performance, we’d rather not dignify this horrendous get-up with a response.

Who exactly is Sasha Gradiva? Why is she at the Grammy’s? Maybe this shocking dress was a way of getting her name out there & people talking about her. Touche…we guess.
