Allie Davis: Beyonce Superfan & Twitter Superstar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

When Allie Davis, a junior at Miami University and Beyonce superfan, tweeted on Monday, April 6 about the quiz she had her boyfriend take (on Queen Bey, of course), she figured she’d get a couple laughs.

But over the course of the next 12 hours, Davis’s account gained a lot of attention. Her single tweet regarding the quiz received roughly 400 retweets, 520 favorites, was posted to Tumblr and then she was featured on Buzzfeed‘s homepage.

“[Buzzfeed] contacted me after my tweet blew up,” Davis says. “I was really surprised. I didn’t expect it at all.”

The biggest surprise of it all, however, was when Davis recieved a direct message via Twitter from one of Ryan Seacrest’s employees— Seacrest wanted her to better explain the quiz on his radio show. You’ll be able to hear the interview with Seacrest when it airs April 7 live on On Air With Ryan Seacrest around 2 p.m. EST.

Davis tweeted a picture of the graded quiz from her Beyonce fan account (@fergyonce), an account she uses to post everything Beyonce or music related. She created the account so that way her friends don’t have to listen to her “fangirl on [her] personal account.”

“It’s a fun way to connect with other fans and to talk about music,” Davis says. Fergie even follows her!

As for the quiz, in which she called, “The Official Allie Davis Relationship Test,” Davis said it only took about five minutes to make when she was bored one night. Luckily, her boyfriend received an 80 percent (he needed at least 60 percent to pass/continue dating) and they’re still together. But of course, neither took the quiz seriously. Allie and her boyfriend have been together for two and a half years.

“He thought it was funny and kind of ridiculous. But he’s used to me doing weird things, especially when they involve Beyoncé,” Davis said. “It was all for fun.”

On April 1st she decorated her beau’s bedroom with Beyonce and HarryStyles posters, in which he burned as a joke to get back at her.

Some Buzzfeed commenters, or as we like to call them, haters, obviously understood Davis’s sarcasm and began slamming her for basing her relationship on a quiz (see what we did there?). Others commented with their support saying, “This should be mandatory for all relationships though?” and, “This is me on so many levels. I dont even bother dating someone if they aren’t at least open to listening to/liking Bey cause of some deep seeded stupid judgement.”

So, true Beyonce fans agree— a significant other who also worships the ground Bey’s heels grace is a necessity. And if they don’t, well they’re just not ready for this jelly. Davis says/tweets it best, “You have to put up with a lot when you date a Beyoncé [fan]. That’s just how it goes.”

Davis met Beyonce this summer at Top Shop while shopping for an outfit to wear toher concert with Jay Z in Chicago. “It was unreal and she was so humble and sweet,” Davis says.
