With spring break right around the corner, it’s time to plan the perfect traveling outfit! This can be a little bit of a headache because who doesn’t want to be comfortable when they are traveling? On top of that, nobody wants to show up to the airport in Ohio with 30-degree weather in sandals. Dressing for the airport is all about strategy.  Below, you’ll find a few suggestions to keep in mind when trying to obtain the perfect “airport chic” look.

My first piece of advice to all jetsetters is layers, layers, and more layers. We all want to be warm and comfortable in the airport, so a big sweater is always a promising option. Layers can also be extremely easy to shed off once you have arrived to your final destination, which is hopefully somewhere very warm! A big sweater can also substitute for a nice pillow to sleep off the Green Beer Day hangover while waiting for your flight at the airport.

My second piece of advice would be to wear shoes that are comfortable and semi-appropriate for Ohio weather. I recommend meeting in the middle with the shoe choice. A nice flat would be on point for they are better than lugging around riding boots on the beach once you have arrived. Not to mention, boots can be annoying to take on and off when going through airport security. A flat can be slipped on and off quickly. Therefore, you will not be that annoying person holding up the line. Try a bright, vibrant spring color to add a little pop to your outfit, which can also substitute for a lack of jewelry. Speaking of accessories, keep jewelry to a minimum because it is too time consuming to put it on and off through security. I cannot believe I am saying this, but it is more worry than it is worth when pressed for time.

Lastly, leggings are 100% acceptable on the plane, if not highly encouraged. This will allow you to actually move and get semi-comfortable in the little personal space that you have. With spring finally heating things up, don’t be afraid to sport a beautiful patterned legging. There’s no sense in holding back and being boring during the springtime!

Just remember to keep things simple when traveling because it will your life less stressful and you’ll be more cozy should you have a layover. Make sure ID’s, tickets, and snacks can be accessed easily and quickly. For carry-ons (a.k.a. snacks!), I recommend packing a cute bag. To completely master airport chicness, a light brown leather tote is always a great choice. Safe travels collegiettes, we’ll catch ya in April!
