17 Thoughts Everyone Has After Seeing Their Ex In Public

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

In an ideal world, the dreadful run-in with your ex in public would be non-existent. And no, we’re not referring to the “accidental” run-in at Side Bar, looking gorgeous in your new Tobi dress, laughing casually with your friends, showing him what he’s missing kind of run-in. We’re talking about the occasional walk down High Street “OMG don’t look, it’s my ex” run-in. It’s fight or flight time and if you decide to stick it out, good for you. But we can promise the aftermath probably won’t be satisfying.

Here are the seventeen things going through your head when you see your ex:

1. Is he kidding? I bought him that Patagonia. Why does he think it’s okay to still wear it?

2. Yes, I’m wearing the necklace he bought me for Valentine’s Day, so what? That rule doesn’t apply to me.

3. Who was that girl he was with? I’m stalking her ASAP.

4. She wasn’t even that pretty.

5. Her outfit was tacky. And I hate her.

6. Did he get shorter?

7. Yes. He most definitely did.

8. Why is he even here? Doesn’t he know this is my spot?

9. I wonder what Taylor Swift would do in this situation? She’d probably have a couple lyrics written down already.

10. Is he wearing sweatpants? Wow, he must have really let himself go.

11. “Yeah I’m really good, things are going great.” Oh really? PLEASE tell me more.

14. Looks like his gym membership expired.

15. I can’t believe I ever dated him. Was I drunk the whole time?

16. He most definitely looked at me like I was Ashley S. from “The Bachelor.”

17. We are never ever getting back together, like ever.
