Halloween is just around the corner, and everyone is planning their costumes! If you’re still trying to pick your perfect costume or looking for a last-minute option, here are some creative costume ideas you can put together with stuff you likely have at home, based on your major. Whether it’s a solo or group costume, we’ve got you covered.
Communications = Pop Star
You are always up to date on the latest trends. Whether it’s following the rising influencers or working behind the camera, you’re media-trained just like a celeb. And I know you are obsessed with music. So…dressing as a pop star could be the perfect fit! Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Megan Moroney are just some ideas, but don’t be afraid to be creative! Â

Nursing = A Bad Case of the Stripes
If you grew up in the 2000s and 2010s, I’m sure you’ve read this book. Instead of being the doctor, you’re being the patient for once! Throw on a white dress, paint some rainbow stripes on your face, put a pink bow in your hair, and you’re all set! This costume will be a nostalgic hit!

Biology = Mad Scientist
This is the perfect costume for your major. Think of it like you’re going to the lab, but with some Halloween style… that would make you a mad scientist, which isn’t something you see often! Act like you took your lab experiment a little too far, and now you’re ready for Halloween!

Criminal Justice = Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde
This one is for my criminal justice majors! Judy and Nick from Zootopia are the perfect costume for you! Find yourself some bunny and fox ears, throw together your best police outfit if you’re Judy, or a big oversized button-up and shorts for Nick, and maybe even whip out the sarcasm. This costume is great for either a couple’s costume or a best friend costume.

Business = Gossip Girl
As a business girly myself, you learn a lot about what happens behind the scenes. Imagine all the secrets exposed… or imagine yourself as Blair Waldorf or Serena van der Woodsen trying to hold onto your jobs that just end up using these secrets to benefit their own lives! I know you already have a basic white blouse; add a mini skirt, tie, and headband, and you’ve made your costume into a simple and telling one.Â

The first duo that comes to mind when I think of engineering is Phineas and Ferb. This crazy creative duo is the perfect costume for best friends. For Phineas, find an orange headband, an orange striped shirt, jean shorts or skirt, and some Converse.
