The Claddagh Pub right in Lawrence has a DJ every Thursday night that Merrimack students take advantage of every week. Though there is no indication that they are doing any special Valentine’s Day event, it’s just a $3 cover charge with your Mack Card.
Bell in Hand Tavern’s Flirt Fest is one of the most established Anti-Valentines parties in Boston and is only $15 to attend, plus drinks. The night is designed to celebrate the single lifestyle and all the freedoms that come along with it. The Tavern is located on Union Street near Faneuil Hall.
The Valentine’s Day Pub Crawl is sponsored by Crawl in Boston and will be held this year on February 9th, 2013. Crawl in Boston sells tickets and rents out the bars that are registered for the event. Participants dress up in Valentine’s Day or Anti-Valentine’s Day costumes and travel around the bars of Faneuil Hall. You don’t have to go to every bar, nor do you have to start at the first bar on the list. Tickets are $25 and drinks are not included.
Love Sux @ Howl at the Moon is another Anti-Valentine’s Day party, but this one has a fun twist. Howl at the Moon is Boston’s most successful dueling piano bar. They will have a special drink menu featuring cocktails such as the ‘Bad Romance Bucket’ and the pianists will be performing songs like Cee Lo’s “Forget You” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” The doors open at 4 P.M. Best Part? If you bring a shredded, mutilated, or torn photo of your ex you get in free!
Pole Dancing at Gypsy Rose Dance Studio is a different kind of option that is available to those under 21. For just $40 you and your friends can dress up in fun costumes and platform boots and learn the basics of pole dancing. The class is an hour and a half long and is bound to be hilarious if nothing else.
With any of these options, you’re guaranteed to have a blast whether you decide to go into Boston or stay right at home. Valentine’s Day for any girl doesn’t have to involve a crappy rom-com and a tub of ice cream anymore. Go out somewhere and mingle. You may even meet your Valentine for next year!
