PengCheng Wan is not your typical college student. To start off, he isn’t from out of state, but rather out of the country! PengCheng, also known as ‘PC’ is from Guiyang, China. He’s a junior currently attending Merrimack College studying Business Finance. For those of you who do not know PengCheng personally, I’m positive you’ve either seen or heard about him.
For those of you who’ve seen that smiling guy on campus, always telling jokes, making people feel at home, sporting an authentic sweater, and always on a coffee run, a large French Vanilla with Hazelnut and cream no sugar to be exact, then you definitely know who I’m talking about. Being an international student PengCheng has come to be accustomed to many American traditions right off the bat. He loves Starbuck, the culture and freedoms of America and is the perfect friend who will always be there for you.
PengCheng is extremely involved on campus. He is a part of the A.L.A.N.A club here at Merrimack. This club celebrates the various aspects of diversity, exploring new means to appreciate differences, recognize biases, and grow together in a peaceful manner. PengCheng helps others build relationships amongst other students with diverse backgrounds and helps them feel part of the community here at Merrimack. PC is also an International Assistant, knowing what it feels to be an international student himself, helps others like him feel like Merrimack is their ‘home’ away from ‘home.’ Whether he’s picking up students at the airport, taking them to lunch and introducing them to others, or simply checking up with them with something as simple as a conversation, PengCheng is a helping hand and friend to many.
PengCheng is also part of class council. He is a representative for the class of 2014, and is constantly listening to people’s suggestions and trying to better the Merrimack community. PC has also attended the infamous life changing ‘MORE Retreat’ and lends his time to community projects around Merrimack. When he isn’t out saving the world, you can seem him patrolling the Deegans as an RA on duty. PengCheng is very involved on campus and most recently you will see him this November in the run for Mr. Merrimack, so be sure to be there to cheer him on! Who better to run for the epitome of Mr. Merrimack that Pengcheng himself; a friendly, trustworthy, and committed student, everything that Merrimack stands for.
PengCheng has come a long way from China to make his mark her at Merrimack. PengCheng has not only been there for many in Merrimack, but for the community as well. Your typical student, always smiling, and ready to lend a helping hand is someone if you don’t already know, you want to look out for.
