2023 was a year filled with amazing records, albums, performances, and producers. February 4, 2024, the day we all sit on the edge of our seats for: The Grammys. From the moment the Grammys begin, I am drawn in by the show-stopping (or not so much) outfits on the red carpet. I am always very opinionated about the outfits people are wearing and eager to see which of my favorite artists wins. If you’re anything like me, keep reading to see whether or not you agree with my thoughts on the winners!

Record of the Year

Miley Cyrus’ album “Flowers” won Record of the Year, which I was extremely excited about. As a fan of hers since Hannah Montana, I was shocked she had never won a Grammy before and thought she was so deserving of this award. It was nice to see her perform the track afterward and do a celebratory dance around the stage after winning her first Grammy. It was possibly one of the most iconic moments and one OG Miley fans raved about!

Album of the Year

“Midnights” by Taylor Swift won this category, which I was disappointed about. As much as I love Taylor, I was rooting for either SZA or Olivia Rodrigo to win, simply because of the fact that Taylor has won so many Grammys before and these girls have not won as many. I also felt like both of these girls were good nominees because of the tours following the albums and how successful they have been, but it is not up to me. Midnights is a good album but in my opinion, the other albums just stood out a little more.

Song of the Year

This category was one where I was hoping that one song would win, and when it did, I was so excited that I texted all of my friends immediately, spoiling it for some of them. Barbie was my favorite movie by far to have come out in 2023, so when “What Was I Made For” won, I was ecstatic. I remember watching the movie and hearing this song and how much of an impact it made on so many girl’s lives. Especially after the comment about the Barbie movie was made at the Golden Globes, I was rooting for it to continue winning awards.

Best New Artist

This was a category I yelled at my TV about. When I saw Noah Kahan was nominated, I thought for sure he had it in the bag. He is selling out stadiums, creating song after song, blowing up on TikTok, and overall extremely successful. When he did not win, I was shocked and confused, because I was so set on the fact that he would get his first Grammy. Watching him walk away without an award was definitely a moment that upset me because I did not think it was right, but it was not up to me. He’ll have to win them all next year!

Best Country Duo/Group Performance

I am a huge country fan, so this category I was especially on the edge of my seat for. When I saw that Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ “I Remember Everything” won, I literally screamed. Zach Bryan is one of my favorite country artists ever, and to see him win a Grammy was such a cool moment. This song especially was everywhere; I could not go anywhere without hearing it at least once. This one was very cool for me and I was super happy with it!

Best Country Album

Staying on the topic of country for our last category, I was pretty let down by the winner in this category. Two of my favorites, Zach Bryan and Kelsea Ballerini, were nominated in this category, but both lost to Lainey Wilson, who I personally am not into. I was let down for a couple of reasons, but the main reason is that seeing Zach Bryan win one Grammy gave me hope that he would win more. Zach Bryan and Kelsea Ballerini also had sold-out tours this year and did absolutely incredible, while Lainey was only an opening act and did not have as much success as these two.

Already looking forward to seeing who the nominees are for next year!
