This week’s Campus Celeb is junior, J. Lucky Henry who is definitely someone worth watching. Lucky is a french major, with minors in spanish, marketing and mass communication. He is incredibly involved on campus with being the president of the advertising club, a member of the track team, the campus catalyst leadership team, and student council member. Moreover, he works at Ski Bradford and loves to ballroom dance.

Lucky recently founded “College Power”, which is a coupon booklet that includes discounts, promotions, and exclusive deals for enrolled Merrimack students. Currently, the booklet is only available for Merrimack students, but Lucky is working on reaching out to other schools as well.

He came up with this idea in November of last year when he started to realize that companies didn’t care about lowering prices for students. He decided to create a competitive market for businesses to get them to lower their prices. Lucky got the idea from his friend, Haden Everetts who works at H Communications.

Lucky gave up his winter break and dedicated his free time to make the idea come to life by putting in long hours to make it possible. MV Sandbox campus catalyst gives out grants for new entrepreneurial ideas and Lucky was one of the students who received a grant to make his dream a reality. He also did a pitch contest for additional funding.

Lucky is the main person in “College Power”, but works with Her Campus Merrimack Campus Celeb, Emily Morgan who helps with the graphic designs. Jaclyn Lyons and Michael Wiggins also pitch in to support the team. The Mack Print Center on campus handles the production for College Power. The businesses that agree to the coupons usually pay for the advertising space. College Power helps companies cater to what customers want and bring in more business during their slower times. Every Merrimack student can purchase the booklet for $1 and get great deals.
