Today me and 7 other friends took the tram into downtown Rome to take a tour of the Vatican. On the last Sunday of each month the entrance is free, so we all got up and left by 9 am! First we started off at St. Peter’s Basilica. It was gorgeous. There were huge plasma screen tv’s and hundreds of chairs set up from the mass this morning.

Next, we all headed over to the Vatican. After waiting in line for about an hour, we went through security and started exploring. I never realized how big the Vatican really is! There were so many different painting, sculptures, and murals to look at everywhere. We took our time walking through and taking pictures and ended at the Sistine Chapel. We weren’t allowed to take pictures while in there so unfortunately I can’t share them with you. However, it was AMAZING. The paintings covered every wall and ceiling and they were breath taking. The lights were dim and we had to be silent.. It was not what I was expecting but I was in awe.
