From the Neck Up: 4 Ways to Spring Clean Your Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

Spring is upon us! With the light jackets, sunny weather, and shaved legs comes a whole new perspective on makeup. Oh boy is it different gone are the toned down colors of fall and winter and back is the bright metallic and earthy neutrals to balance them out. Colored eyeliners and mascaras are back, not just a thing of the past any more. Lipstick and Liners are bigger and bolder than before. So let go of your winter coats and go bright, bold, and colorful!  Take advantage of this season to tryout and collect all of your favorite tones, styles, and ranges of colors.

2. Two toned Lips – there are several ways this can be done. The first is two completely different colored lips, the top one can be orange and the bottom one pink. The second way is a darkened bottom lip and a lighter top lip. The third is to paint the both the bottom and the top a single color and dot a bit of color in the center making a half circle on both lips. The fourth is a stained top lip and a glossy bottom lip, both must be the same color.  The last is an ombre kind of look with fading tones. The options are endless and these five are just a few suggestions, find more on our Kissable Lips page.

3. Eyes that could fly – Eyeliner, mascara, and eye shadows are all designed to enhance and make the eyes pop. The key is to combine all of the above into a masterpiece. This season has zoned in on the eyeliners and mascaras for a cleaner look. Winged liner is the must have skill, but there are many other choices available. Check out our Pintrest for more makeup tips.

4. Bold Brows are Back – Forget the tweezers ladies and let that hair grow because like the rest of the season bold is in. Now if you really desire to go all in its going to be a long, awkward process to start even if your hair grows fast like mine. Which is why it is something you have to want bad enough to stick with and have a nifty makeup blogger in your back pocket like I do, check out this site

5. Get it Prim Then Mess it Up –When the summer air hits, hot and humid there is nothing more desired then a hair tie and a few bobby pins. Yet the odds are never in our favor, hair gets wild and free and there is no helping it, not even hair spray can tame that wild party above your head. My suggestion is a fabulous messy bun or braid.
