Senior Lucy Deppen is truly an all-around Mercer student—involved in sports, social activities and community service. Deppen is the student director for Mercer Intramural Sports, a peer advisor, member of Phi Eta Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership honor society), volunteers with Friends of the Macon Dog Park organization as well as many others. It’s no wonder that Lucy has won over the love of the student body, and was elected homecoming queen last fall.
Deppen counts this experience as one of the best to happen during her time at Mercer. She was thrilled to be crowned by last year’s queen Amy Abel, who is in her Phi Mu Family. “It was very special for her to be the one to pass the crown to me. In addition, my little sister, my father, my aunt and uncle were all at the game. I love Mercer, and feel very honored to represent Mercer as the 2010 Homecoming Queen,” exclaimed Deppen.
Expected to graduate in May, Deppen plans to attend graduate school at either Belmont University or Western Kentucky University. She anticipates earning her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration and Recreational Sports.
In her spare time, Deppen enjoys eating Mexican food, and enjoys listening to almost any type of music, especially acoustic guitar. She cites Nashville among one of her favorite places-in the world! Good luck Lucy Deppen on your future endeavors!
