Lindsey Sharpless

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

Junior Lindsey Sharpless is one of Mercer’s newest transfer students from Kennesaw University, and with her vibrant personality and quick wit she has her sights set on being in the spotlight.

Already embracing the role of Mercer player, she has obtained her first role at Mercer in the Mercer Theater’s upcoming and highly anticipated production of Alice in Wonderland as the field mouse.
“I have always enjoyed theater; I’ve always had fun with it,” she expressed.

Pursuing a theater arts degree, she chose Mercer’s program because of the flexibility offered in the theater department.

“I like that Mercer is a smaller school. It’s more individualized and there is more freedom to explore different areas of my major. At Kennesaw, you could only take basic classes in other disciplines. If you wanted to take a class in lighting, you had to be a design major, or if you wanted to take a musical theater class you had to be a musical theater major,” she explained.

Sharpless is taking full advantage of the classes offered in her major. She is currently enrolled in a lighting and design class for the stage along with acting classes.

She is not only interested in theater but music as well. As member of Mercer’s Women’s Choir, Sharpless is also thinking of declaring a minor in music.

In the future, she hopes to either teach theater or work with some aspect of the theater doing behind the scenes work such as being a lighting designer.

Don’t forget to go out and support her in Alice in Wonderland at the Grand Opera House!

Hometown: Moultrie, GA College: Mercer University I come from a small town in the real South. I have always loved writing, and now, I am studying Journalism at Mercer. Look out for me. I have big dreams, and I am not backing down. I am a mystery just waiting to be solved.
