“I would like to be an actor in whatever capacity I can,” said junior Abby Howd. This Mercer Player has been featured in plays such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Lucky Spot, Misery Waltz and most recently Six Characters in Search of an Author.

As a Theater major and English/ Music minor, Abby is a member of the Shakespeare Garden Society and helping to establish a pro-choice association on campus. Aside from her thespian endeavors, Abby has managed to make the President’s and Dean’s List every semester.

Having a diverse taste in music, Abby listens to nearly everything…except reggae. She notes Napa Valley among one of her favorite places to visit, aside from Brazil.

Abby previously completed a Mercer on Mission program in Brazil focusing on sociology and theology. Her favorite experience was interacting with children who lived in the slums, who embraced them as though they were superstars. Abby notes, “even though we weren’t giving them things to help their financial situation; we gave them hope and positive reinforcement.”

With a humble spirit and a kind nature, we are sure to see Ms. Howd accepting an Oscar or Tony one day!
