While most people spend their free time watching movies, Game of Thrones, or cat videos on YouTube, my personal favourite pastime online is to watch videos made by my favourite beauty bloggers.  When I say beauty bloggers, it is easy to think that these women go on an on about which lipstick shade is the best and which eye shadow to pair with what eye liner, but there is something quite different about each of these ladies – they actually know what they’re talking about. Apart from the aesthetically appealing side of beauty, they focus on informing the viewer. Did you think you would never attempt to contour? Here are five “YouTubers” that I believe will prove you wrong.

1. Vivianna Does Makeup

Living in London, 25-year-old Vivianna Gardner, or Anna for short, runs a blog called “Vivianna Does Makeup” and a YouTube channel by the same name. Makeup done by Anna is always low-key and easy but by no means does it ever look like she has done it in a matter of minutes. If you’re low on time and don’t know what you put on your face, Anna is your go-to YouTuber. She also shares the best cookie recipes. Be warned, having only one will not cut it.

2. Lily Pebbles

Lily Pebbles started her blog in university as a part of her digital marketing module, and now has around 240,000 followers on YouTube. Just like Anna, whom she is good friends with, Lily also has a very low-key style when it comes to makeup. Since she started off as a lifestyle blog, she also has great advice about where to go in London. So put that travel guide away and check out her blog for places to visit in London!

3. Essie Button

Essie Button was the first YouTuber I started watching. Essie also lives in London but she’s actually from Canada, hence why she was the first channel I subscribed to. Apart from sharing her opinions about everything from cleansers to nail polish, Essie also shares a great deal of recipes. Her power protein soup is a delicious and easy option for cold Montreal winters, when all you want it to warm up and well… watch one of Essie’s videos!

4. Emily Noel aka Beauty Broadcast

Crossing over to our side of the pond, Emily Noel is a blogger and YouTuber from America. She is a former news anchor and you can definitely tell from her tone in her videos. As a student living on a tight budget, it is quite hard to find a good deal, and this is where Emily steps in. In constant search for duplicates, also known as dupes, for high-end products, she makes shopping a lot more fun and affordable.

5. Ingrid Nilsen aka Missglamorazzi

The best word to describe Ingrid would be “bubbly”. If you are in a bad mood and somehow ended up on YouTube to watch videos of parents pranking their children by saying that they ate their Halloween candy, make sure to go over to Ingrid’s channel too. In a world where we are sadly told to look perfect at all times and never show flaws, Ingrid often does what most girls on YouTube find tough. Even though she has problematic skin and acne, she is not scared to bare her face and show people how she deals with it. If you are looking for any advice in that department, check out her channel, missglamorazzi.
