HC McGill: What inspired Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection for women?
Christina Krcevinac (CK): Diesel’s SS14 collection has a strong Western influence. While maintaining its rock attitude, the preview collection expresses a woman’s true feminine side as she plays with transparencies, leather, suede, velour and shimmer. A bright blue, light teal and black color palette rule the collection with touches of brown. There is a mix of casual and glamour in this collection, which embodies the true Diesel woman.

HC McGill: If you can’t buy a pair of jeans in every colour, what are some staple colours to invest in?
CK: I wouldn’t invest in a specific color per say, I would invest in treatments. Our President, Renzo Rosso, says you should invest in two pairs of jeans: one clean and one destroyed. You can mix and match these staples to make a variety of different looks. You can wear the clean ones for work/school and the destroyed ones on the weekend. For the real fashion novice, you can mix and match destroyed with clean to obtain a true Diesel DNA look. For example, destroyed jeans paired with a blazer give a more business casual vibe. On the contrary wearing clean jeans and with a beaten up biker jacket is cool and relaxed.

HC McGill: Some girls may be hesitant to wear jeans to a club, but accessorizing makes such a difference. What are some key accessories to dress up jeans?
CK: Denim today is now more versatile than ever! We have a fit and wash that is perfect for every occasion. HC McGill: The Diesel Skinzee jeans are an essential pair of skinny jeans. What makes them so wearable?
CK: The Skinzee is unbelievable. They’re my new favourite jeans. They come in a mid-rise as well as a low-rise and fit like second skin (hence the name “Skinzee”). This ultra-skinny fit is best known for always holding its shape. No matter how long you wear them, that won’t bunch at the knees of sag in the back, they always hold their shape while remaining soft and comfortable.
HC McGill: How does this collection allow for an easy transition from day to night?
CK: The collection transitions easily from day to night. The luxurious fabric and rich colours can take you from daytime to evening effortlessly. During the winter time, it’s all about layers.
