Restaurant Roundup: Delivery During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

With the semester winding down and finals around the corner, ordering delivery is about to become even more crucial to keep working hard. Motivation to cook healthy meals and taking the time away from studying is hard – luckily living in Montreal has its perks. There are so many food delivery and late night options to fuel your study sessions, and there’s nothing like the promise of great delivery as motivation to work. Her Campus McGill is here to give you the lowdown on the best food delivery websites and restaurants.

Ordering Platforms:

Foodora, Just Eat, and A La Carte Express are three online platforms from which ordering from a variety of restaurants is extremely easy. Foodora has some great options, but its delivery fee is steep compared to the others. A La Carte and Just Eat have some different options, but you can pay online at Just Eat to minimize human interaction, and make your delivery experience go by faster.

A La Carte:

While A La Carte has a ton of different options for delivery, below are some of the best places to order from and avoid cooking, by category:

  • Italian – CafĂ© Maurizio is a great option for pizza, pasta, paninis and caprese salad. The prices are affordable and the dishes are absolutely delicious.
  • Sandwiches – Europea has a reasonably priced lunch box special where you can choose a sandwich, soup or salad, dessert, and drink.
  • Burgers – Burger Royal has many burger options, hot dogs, mac ‘n cheese, fries, poutines, and chilis.
  • Healthy – Mandy’s salad is my favourite place to order personalized salads. Although a bit pricey, it’s important to not just binge on carbs and forget to eat brain food.

Just Eat:

Indian – My go-to Indian place for delivery is Singh’s on St. Laurent. Their samosas, chicken curry, butter chicken and naan are all delicious. Guru Bistro on St. Denis is another great Indian option, and each order comes with rice and naan automatically. Both of these restaurants are on Just Eat, making it easy to get your Indian fix whenever you need it.

Healthy – Lola Rosa delivers their full menu (on Just Eat), and their huge nacho platter is the perfect snack for studying with friends. Freshii on Parc is another great option for getting a veggie fix.

Burgers – Rub’s American BBQ and Diablo’s both have great comfort mood options, serving up burgers, fries, BBQ and some ridiculous mac ‘n cheese.

Italian – L’Academie is an awesome bring your own wine restaurant, and luckily you can order the same savory pasta dishes to enjoy at home.

Foodora:

Foodora has some of the same offerings as the other two platforms, including Guru, Rubs American BBQ, Burger Royal, Chef on Call, L’Academie, Freshii, Mandy’s, Diablos, etc. They also have other great options including Indian, Korean, Breakfast Options, Burgers, etc. The site is more aesthetically pleasing compared to the others, and their selection has been growing quickly.

Late Night

Most people know about Chef on Call and Pizza Pizza, but there are other late night options. Boustan is an amazing Lebanese restaurant that will deliver chicken shawarma plates with garlic potatoes until 4am. Burger Bar on Crescent will deliver decadent poutine and massive burgers until midnight.

Let’s make this final’s season bearable by indulging in all of our favorite foods with fast, easy delivery.
