Navigating the Fashion Blogosphere: 5 Montreal Based Fashion Blogs

The way we get our information has drastically changed over the past decade. Indeed, people are now first looking to the Internet as their principal provider of news and information, and this is no different for the world of fashion. Blogs have taken over cyberspace, and are becoming the new fashion and beauty magazines of our generation, with bloggers becoming the new fashion editors.

So what makes blogging different than other media outlet?

Blogs connect people from all around the world based on their shared interests. Social media in general has become a huge influential phenomenon, allowing everyone to voice his or her opinion and share it with the world.

Fashion bloggers come in all shapes and sizes, and they are multiplying in every city, just like Montreal!

It was almost impossible to choose, but here is my list of 5 noteworthy Montreal based fashion blogs- some have been around for a while, while others are new and up and coming. Check it out!

1. Fashionista 514

A must read in the world of MTL blogs, Fashionista514 has taken the blogging world by storm. Native Montrealer and style maven, Robyn Chalmers, has made what started off as a personal creative outlet, now her fulltime career. Her blog has been featured in magazine such as Elle Canada, Fashion, LOULOU, and many others. A regular at New York Fashion Week, this Montreal fashionista is an inspiration to all aspiring writers and fashion lovers. Her artistic roots are evident as one flips through the pages of her blog. Don’t be fooled by the numerous pics, this blog’s savy writing will keep you wanting more! A self-professed lover of red sole shoes, skinny black pants, oversized cocktail rings, and obnoxious bows- Westmount Fashionista’s Jessica Concannon may just be Montreal’s very own Carrie Bradshaw! This gal’s great style is illustrated through her numerous fashion outfit posts that will make you want to hit the stores ASAP. Taking street chic to new levels, this local fashionista’s pictures are all shot in the streets of Montreal! Her “Trend Spotting” posts show the reader’s what’s new and trending for the upcoming season, and her Instagram pics and personal stories make you feel as if you already know this bloguette. A more recent newcomer to the world of fashion blogging, WhoKnowsFashion has been blog posting, tweeting, and instagraming its way to great heights! The team behind WhoKnowsFashion tries to reveal to its readers what fashion is, what it’s all about, and most importantly where fashion can lead us. This blog takes you behind the scenes of fashion weeks all around the world, and recaps the shows’ highlights with a finesse that comes from true fashion connoisseurs. The blog’s Stylish Snaps section pins new and noteworthy trends in fashion, beauty and accessories. This blog’s daily fashion posts makes WhoKnowsFashion the perfect read to know what’s hot in the world of fashion- the ultimate daily dose of glam!

Nelly Cerri is a young Montreal based product designer with a passion for fashion. This passion led to her creating her own personal style blog, Fashion Accro, catering to the young fashionistas. In French Accro means addicted or obsessed, which is exactly to whom the blog caters to. As a believer that it’s the people wearing the clothes that make them what they are, and not the other way around, Fashion Accro brings her own personal style and advice to each blog post. This article on Montreal fashion blog wouldn’t be complete without mentioning A La Mode Montreal. This blog is written in French, but fashion and art are universal, and well this blog speaks for itself! With over 48 000 readers per month, well over 5 000 Facebook fans and Twitter followers, this blog is most certainly a must read, collegiettes! Founder and editor, Julia Vallelunga created ALMM back in 2009 and has been watching it grow ever since. This easy to browse blog posts articles about fashion, vintage clothing finds, DIY, travel blogs, and it even has a men’s fashion section. Its section “Bon Plan”, posts about things to do in and around Montreal area, where to eat, and where go out, for the city girl or guy looking for the next cool thing. A La Mode Montreal truly is the expression of local creative talent!
