How to Stay Motivated as Finals Season Approaches

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

With the school year almost wrapping up and the weather getting warmer, it may be hard for you to have any interest in grinding away at McLennan for hours. However, the reality of being a college student is that you have to put in a lot of work to earn that degree, especially near finals season! Here are some tips to help you stay motivated as finals season quickly approaches:

1. Find a cute, new study spot.

To shake up your study routine, try finding a new place to study. Some of my personal favourites are Birks Reading Room (pictured above), the Islamic Studies Library, or quiet cafes such as Bristol Chai, Café 45, and Café Osmo.

2. Organize a study group.

Having a group of friends/classmates to study with can alleviate some stress which may be associated with exam season and also holds you accountable to your study schedule. After you find a good group of people to work with, book a group study room in McLennan for a day of productive work.

3. Look at motivational quotes every day.

From personal experience, motivational quotes help you be more productive and stay on track. I actually have an app on my phone called “Motivation Quotes – Daily Quote” which sends me a quote every morning, reminding me to be more productive, optimistic, and successful in my daily life.

4. Remember your end goal.

College is not always going to be easy, but it will be worth it in the end! All your hard work will pay off when you get that shiny degree on graduation day, so stay strong and study on!
