La Maison Ogilvy
Ogilvy, a department store located on Saint Catherine street in the heart of downtown Montreal, may seem like an intimidating place to buy your Christmas presents at. But once you get past the Louis Vuitton displays, and the Burbury handbags, little gems await. The basement of this luxury department store holds an array of inexpensive boutiques, like Crabtree & Evelyn and Godiva.
For $38, I recommend Crabtree & Evelyn’sĀ La Source 60 Second Fix from the Hand Therapy Collection or their limited edition holiday candles for $28-$30 each in fragrances like Noel and Windsor Forest (annual collections!). Also, Godiva has plenty of holiday-themed boxes of chocolatesĀ ($25) as well as hot chocolatesĀ ($24 for their holiday mini cocoa trio) that work perfectly as hostess gifts this holiday season.

A Massage
During exams, I get this thing where every time I recall a weekend I spent in bed crippled with meninges-withering dehydration, making sincere resolutions never to drink again, one of the muscle filaments in my back tenses up in a really unpleasant way. Then it stays frozen in place until my entire back is contracted with a semesterās worth of stress as I furiously lament those schoolwork-free weekends….which is why IĀ reallyĀ want someone to get me a massage for Christmas. And since accumulating stress is basically a college sport, you probably know someone who wants a massage too! Massages can get expensive, but sites likeĀ GrouponĀ offer steep discounts on these kinds of things.Ā

Warm and Cozy Socks
My favorite gift to give and receive has to be warm and cozy socks. They’re practical, cute, and pulling out my wool socks really is the highlight of my winter!Ā
Every winter, the Gap releases soft and warm woollen socks. This year, their socks come with either adorable foxes or squirrels on them, or in a classic fair isle pattern. Believe me, socks may seem boring, but these are socks to die for!Ā
At $8.95 a pair, they are a bit pricey, but well worth every penny, and after the holidays, you can pick some up for yourself during one of the Gap’s epic sales.
