Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m originally from Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. My hobbies include drinking peppermint hot chocolate, knitting, wrapping presents, and eating chocolate covered almonds. The three most important things to me are Christmas, my dog and Kate Middleton. Obviously, I’m also really passionate about fitness and athletics, especially field hockey.

What do you love about field hockey?

This season has really pushed me out of my comfort zone because it’s a really high level of field hockey and a lot is expected of you when you step to the field every day, so it was really fun to push myself to meet every standard and really work hard at improving at a sport I love. And I know it sounds really cheesy, but I love being part of the team. It is a huge comfort to know that, no matter what, there is a network of people who are there for you, so it has been really fun and nice to have that.

How has being on the field hockey team impacted your experience of McGill?

I think my experience this far at McGill would have been completely different if I didn’t play field hockey. I got on campus for preseason before most other students were here and immediately had people in upper years at McGill whom I could talk to. It made the transition so much easier because I had 20 people who were really willing to help me out and tell me what to expect with school and life in first year. Being on the team is a huge time commitment because, in season, we go away every weekend, so sometimes it was hard to balance school and 6:00 a.m. practices and everything else, but I got used to it pretty quickly and it wasn’t too bad. Sometimes it’s really tough but there are always other girls on the team who know exactly what I’m going through so that makes it a lot easier.

Any words of wisdom for Her Campus readers?

Since I am a child and am not wise, I will borrow the words of a fully grown man when I say “All I know is I know nothing”.
