DIY: From Toilet Paper Roll to Holiday Gift Wrap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

The holidays are almost upon us and that means spending exuberant amounts of money on gifts. The most dreaded part of all, however, is spending hours picking out the nicest gift wrap (which will end up being usually the most expensive) and perfectly wrapping the gift only to watch your perfect wrapping skills get destroyed in about half a second.

But have no fear; your spending and time have no place here! This tutorial will show you have to convert a used toilet paper roll into a cute packaging for the perfect little gift. It takes about 2 minutes to make and is 100% recyclable, eco-friendly and an extremely unique way to give this holiday season.

1) Step 1: Grab the used toilet paper roll and strip it of any toilet paper.

Step 2: Lay the roll down and press it in half.

It should look something like this:

Step 3: Place the roll down vertically with the open ends facing up. Press the ends in creating two overlapping moon shapes; these will be the gift opening ends.

Once the ends are folded in, it should look something like this.

Step 5: Add a cute touch to your packaging by adding string, a personalized tag, or any decoration of your choice.

There you have it, the easiest and most affordable way to package small gifts this season done in only 5 easy steps. Happy Holidays Collegiettes!
