The Cosiest Candles for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

As fall is finally here, (helloooo pumpkin month) I’ve put together a list of the most delicious scented candles for you to curl up next to this fall. Fall is the season for cosy jumpers, a good book, lots of delicious food and all the candles you can get your hands on – forget midterms. So, venture out now before it gets too chilly and pick up some of these autumnal delights, so you can have the cosiest fall yet.

  • Malin + Goetz – ‘Cannabis Votive’ & ‘Tobacco Votive’

Although on the pricier side, these spicy dark-noted candles are perfect for a candle lit autumnal evening. No, it doesn’t actually smell like weed; the cannabis candle contains peppery notes of sandalwood and amber-patchouli, dusted with fresh lemon and fig. The votives are only $16 and although they’re small, they are worth it for the rich, lingering scent and the quality of the candle itself! However, if you’re looking to treat yourself (which you so should) then splash out on the larger ones, $52 for 260g.

  • Bath & Body Works – ‘Mahogany Teakwood’

My friends recently came to visit me from England, and as Bath & Body Works doesn’t exist there (weep) they were fanatic about stocking up on candles. According to them, this gem of a candle should be named ‘Sexy Man Smell’ and I’m sure you’ll agree. However, it’s actually called ‘Mahogany Teakwood’ and is a great investment for your candle collection! Also, this candle comes in a variety of sizes so whatever your price range is you can get this scent. Starting at the mini size, which is only $4.50, this candle goes all the way up to a 3-wick that burns for 25-45 hours at $22.50. My favourite is the medium at only $12.50!

  •   Bath & Body Works – ‘Leaves’

Another treat from Bath & Body Works is ‘Leaves’; its golden brown colour inherently evokes feelings of fall, and these vibes are all in the scent too. Enriched with crisp red apple, golden nectar and warm clove spice, it’s the cosiest candle to snuggle up to on an autumnal night. Also, the maple leaf lid adds a cute Canadian touch.

  • Pure Home Couture Apothecary No.87 – ‘White Pine and Balsam’

This is a perfect transitory candle for fall to winter and can be purchased at ‘Le Petite Garconne’ on Saint Laurent. Pine evokes those Christmas feelings, but the candle is subtle enough to light in fall as well, transporting you to an atmospheric walk beneath the trees. The scent is so realistic. Also the packaging is beautiful, with a vintage looking french label, glass jar and little bow to top it off.

  • Clair de Lune – ‘Marble Finish Scented Jar Candle’

Local store ‘Clair de Lune’ has you covered on candles, and they are currently having a sale so hurry to get these candle delights whilst you have the chance. This marble finish is worth buying just for the jar, while the scents of peony, vanilla and rose add the finishing touches. This will look perfect on your desk and at $6.95 (usually $16.99) you may as well buy two and gift one! The store is located in Place Montreal Trust so it’s super close to go after class for all your candle needs!
