Campus Cutie: Ivan Camilo Martin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Meet this week’s Campus Cutie, Ivan! He’s a firm believer in getting quality poutine, aspires to become the finance minister of his home country, and is involved in SynesthASIA, a student-run organization that is raising money to help stop human trafficking.

Major: Joint Honors Economics and Finance

Hometown: Bogotá, Colombia

Favourite place and thing to do in Montreal: Kind of depends on the weather. During winter, going ice skating late at night at Beaver Lake. Going up Mont Royal feels like you’re in Narnia. During fall or summer, ending up at La Banquise after a night out. If you’re doing poutine, do it right.

Dream job: Finance minister of Colombia, investment banker or something at the TSX. Yes, I’m one of those guys.

Favourite type of food: Homemade Colombian, of course. Or seafood.

Favourite restaurant: Au Pied De Cochon. All about that foie gras poutine.

Involvement on campus: I’m part of the McGill Investment Club and VP Finance for SynesthASIA. SynesthASIA is a student-run silent auction and fashion show happening next semester that is trying to raise 10k for foundations. This year we are working with Tiny Hands which tries to stop human trafficking on India and Pakistan’s borders.

Favourite Justin Bieber song: Really feeling “I’ll Show You.”

Opinion on Adele’s “Hello”: Just when I thought I was emotionally stable again… Hello. Also, big props for using a flip phone in the video.

Guilty pleasure: Watching Kylie Jenner’s snap-stories.

Pet peeve: Sorting through all my tabs to see which page is playing music.
