Name: Brenin Watts

Age: 19

Year: U1

Major: Marketing

Hometown: Lakefield, Ontario

Single or Taken? Single

What is your favourite food? I’m a vegetarian, so I absolutely love a good Portobello burger.

Who is your celebrity crush? My celebrity crush is definitely Zooey Deschanel. Love her!

If you could live to the age of 100 having either the body or mind of a 25-year-old, for the rest of your life, which would you prefer? I think the body of a 25-year-old, just because you’d be so wise, you’d be able to accomplish so much, and you’d be starting out your goals with such a wide mindset.

What is your best McGill memory? My best McGill memory… I think it would be the very last night in residence – which was last year for me, in Molson – everybody went to Café Campus. It was the perfect close to the perfect year; we had achieved so much. We made it! It was like the end to the beginning, or the beginning to the end.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? If I could go anywhere in the world, I think I would go to Berlin, Germany, because I’m German – though my family’s not from Berlin – and it would just be cool to go to a place that is linked to my heritage but that’s also a fun city where you can have a great time, with great food and great beer.

Are you involved in any clubs or sports on campus? Which ones? I’m involved in P[h]assion with Bronfman; I’m the Director of Production. We put on a fashion show every year for Maison Plein Cœur.

Where can we find you on a Saturday night? On a Saturday night, you can find me either at New City Gas or preparing myself for a long morning at Stereo.

What is your spirit animal? My spirit animal… I think the black bear. I don’t know why, maybe just because it’s my favourite animal… They’re kind of ferocious but they’re not so dangerous like the brown bear. So they’re ferocious, but still nice and peaceful.

Do you have any hidden talents? If so, what are they? Do I have any hidden talents? I can juggle. And I can sew, which not a lot of people can do nowadays, but I do know how to sew! So if anyone’s buttons ever pop off, just come to me, and I’ll fix them.

If money was no object, what would be your dream job? My dream job would be to be the next Anna Wintour, the editor in chief of Vogue.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? In ten years, hopefully I’ll be travelling a lot. I’d like to be in a job where travelling kind of comes with it, and I’ll be on flights to Asia, Europe, and South America. Hopefully, I’ll be doing marketing in the fashion industry specifically.

What are your guilty pleasures? My guilty pleasure is ice cream and Netflix, like most people. I like my ice cream, but I have to be careful because I can go through a tub very quickly and I can go through a season very quickly, so it’s a bad match.

What is your most prized possession? Hmm… My most prized possession. Okay, I have a ring that belonged to my grandfather that was the only thing I got from him when he passed away, so it’s the thing I wear the most and the thing I treasure the most. I think, especially going into the industry that I am, it’s also nice to have something that’s related to that industry and is related to my ancestry.

If your house was on fire and you could only save three things, what would you save? Three things… Okay, I would save my computer because it has everything. That would be one. I would save my guitar… And this last one’s a little… not vain, but kind of bad – I’d save my Starbucks gold card. I guess you could also say that Starbucks is one of my guilty pleasures.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? If I could have any superpower, I think it would be to read people’s minds just so I could better understand what people are thinking, get to know them better, break down their barriers that they so often put up, and also tell if they like me or not.
