Ann-Marie Helou is a U3 Psychology and Sociology student who is always able to put a smile on your face, even in the middle of exam hell. She is a Montreal native who loves too many books to list, and she may just be Chelsea F.C.’s biggest fan. Read on to learn more about this week’s campus cutie!

Faculty/Major: Arts/Psychology & Sociology

Year: U3

Hometown: Montreal, QC

Favourite Movie: It has to be a tie between Pitch Perfect and Clue. I quote them so much, it’s ridiculous.

Favourite (non-school related) Book: That’s like asking me which limb I want to keep! I’ll say The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton, it’s so good. Like so good. Read it. Now

Favourite Song (at the moment): Please don’t groan when I say “Hello” by Adele.

Coffee or Tea: Hmmmmmmmmm Tea.

Dogs or Cats: CATS. All day, every day.

Morning Person or Night Owl: Night Owl! I prefer the quiet of the night to do things. It’s peaceful.

Place you’d most like to travel to: Greece for sure. My best friend and I have always wanted to travel there together, especially after we saw Mamma Mia. I don’t know how well it will go over if we try and reenact the “Dancing Queen” scene.

Craziest thing you’ve ever done: A few months ago, I spontaneously got a tattoo.

Dream Job: Chief advertiser for Adidas, but focused on Chelsea F.C. They are my favourite club, and the advertisements Adidas and the club make for kit releases are brilliant, among other things. I realize how specific that is.

Favourite Place on Campus: Roddick gates, because it means I’m done for the day.

Favourite McGill Memory: As cliché as this sounds, becoming friends with some pretty awesome people.

Favourite Thing about Montreal: It’s so beautiful and there is always something to do.

Words to live by: I personally go by “It is what it is, and it will be what it will be,” but this quote always really stuck with me too: “Regret doesn’t do you much good, that is, unless you have a time machine,” from a book by Jonas Jonasson.

Born and raised in Montreal, Hailey is a second year McGill student, majoring in English-Cultural Studies and minoring in Communications. She can almost always be found at a coffee shop or library near campus with a coffee in her hand and a large set of books.  In addition to her love for writing, she absolutely adores celebrity gossip, Netflix, music, and all things concerning Oprah Winfrey. She is thrilled to be writing for HerCampus, and is excited for you to see her contributions!
