Visit a couple bars you haven’t been to yet
- La Distillerie: This bar is definitely one you can get dressed up for. There are three locations in Monteal (Latin Quater, Plateau, and Rosemont) and there is always a line-up because the drinks are so delicious, so get there a little early. It has a cool ambiance and is a perfect setting for girls to have a fun and sophisticated night.
- Big in Japan: This bar is also fantastic bar for a more glamorous night out. It is located on St. Laurent but it is very well hidden so be sure to look closely for it. After you walk through a narrow entrance to get inside you get to a beautiful candle-lit bar. They have a set menu but the drinks are classy and top-notch.
Hit the shopping along St. Cats
- Every girl has an excuse to go shopping no matter what. Need a new pair of ankle boots? Or how about the skirt that you’ve wanted for a while now? There is no better time than reading week to catch up on some much-needed retail therapy. St. Catherines Street has most of the popular shops so you’re bound to find a cute new outfit.
- If you’re looking for more unique shopping, then St. Laurent is the place for you. They have plenty of boutiques and smaller shops where you’ll find some adorable clothes that aren’t necessarily attached to a brand name.
Go skating
- Skating is always a fun way to spend a few hours. Get bundled and padded up, head to Old Port and lace up those skates. For one day of access it only costs $6 and skates cost $8 to rent if you don’t have your own. Until March 9, the rink is open 10-9 Monday to Wednesday, and 10-10 Thursday to Sunday.
- Beaver Lake is also a popular skating destination, located at the top of Mont Royal. Also open until March 9, its hours are Sunday to Thursday 9-9., Friday and Saturday, 9-10. Rentals are $9 for two hours but admission is free.
Try out a couple new restaurants
- Take a walk around and discover a new spot that you haven’t tried out for dinner before. It’s always fun discovering cool restaurants that you didn’t even know existed.
- One recommendation is L’Academie on Crescent. The food is delectable and priced perfectly for students. Also you get to bring your own wine which is always a fun thing to do!
Visit Jean Talon or Atwater market
- Both of these markets are only a few stops away on the metro so it’s worth checking them out. Each has wonderful fresh produce which makes it the perfect place to pick up some groceries to cook a meal that night.
- Jean Talon also has a tea store, soap stand and lavender stand (which smells amazing and makes for great decor).
Have a girls’ night
- Of course this is top-priority on the list. Every girl loves a perfect girls’ night with the classic face mask, chick flick, wine and maybe even some baked goods. Reading break is also a time to relax and de-stress. This is a perfect way to unwind with the girls.
