A new semester brings a new start upon us, which means it’s the perfect time to go out and enjoy yourself before midterms creep in. To celebrate Montreal’s frosty January, I went on a ski trip to Mont Sainte Anne last weekend with the McGill Taiwanese Student Association. Since I actually don’t belong to the club, I was hesitant about going alone with an unfamiliar group at first, however I ended up having a blast!
Based on my recent experience, here are 6 reasons why you should also go on a ski trip, whether with a school club, a lover, or with close friends.
1. Living in a winter wonderland means you should at least have tried to ski/snowboard.
It’s really fun. Plus, you’d look really cool and receive bragging rights.
2. Viewing the snow-covered mountain from a ski lift is a beautiful experience.
Why see the mountain from far away when you could be up-close and personal?
3. It’s the perfect opportunity to socialize and bond.
I went on the ski trip without knowing anybody and ended up making new friends, but if you’re planning on going with people whom you already know, it’s a great chance to become even closer.
4. Drinking on a ski trip is a thing.
Why cut the night short when you could share drinks, play games, and gossip all night after a long day of skiing. Skiing plus drinking might be tiring, but it sure is fun. Besides, alcohol might help dilute the awkwardness between everyone.
5. Cabins are nice.
They’re warm, cute, and cozy… just like in the movies. Absolutely needed for the complete ski trip package.
6. To unwind after everything.
After all the excitement and stress, nothing can beat relaxing. You could go to a nice spa, get a massage, or sleep for endless hours (maybe even all three).
