5 Warm Boots to Help You Survive This Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Hey, collegiettes! Can you believe it’s already November?! It seems like just yesterday we were at the beach wearing bikinis and enjoying the sunshine.

As the last leaves fall from trees and the temperature keeps getting colder, it’s time to shop for warmer clothes and shoes. You don’t want the first snowfall to catch you while you’re still wearing little ankle booties (no matter how cute they are). Winter in Montreal can be such a pain: it’s snowy and windy; slushy and freezing. Also, winter –unfortunately–  lasts half a year here, so investing in a pair of insulated waterproof boots is more than worth it: it is essential. Here are five cute, warm boots that will help you survive the bleakness of winter:

1. SOREL Caribou Boots, $200

Sorel is one of the most popular brands of snow boots among women in Montreal. Available in beige, black or gray, the Caribou boot promises to keep your feet warm and dry, even in slush or heavy snow.

2. UGG Australia Adirondack Boot II, $298

Another popular choice, the Adirondack II boot from UGG Australia will keep you warm even in temperatures as low as -20C. Available in a variety of colors, the shoe features waterproof leather, water-resistant wool, an insulated interior and traction-enhancing outsoles to prevent you from slipping on icy sidewalks. In other words, this is perfect for Montreal winters!

3. THE NORTH FACE Women’s Chilkat 400 Boots, $149.99

The North Face makes great boots for cold weather. The Chilkat 400 all-purpose boots are insulated and waterproof, which will keep your toes from freezing in temperatures below zero. In addition, the outsoles increase traction. You can buy these boots in black or taupe.

4. COLUMBIA Heavenly Shorty Omni-Heat Leather After Dark Lace Up Boot, $170

These boots from Columbia feature patented thermal-reflective lining that claims to protect your feet from the cold in temperatures as low as -32C. Plus, I think they’re quite stylish for winter boots!

5. TIMBERLAND Women’s Woodhaven Tall Waterproof Boots, $200

Featuring a less bulky design than some of the other winter boots, the Woodhaven Tall boot from Timberland is insulated, waterproof and provides increased traction, proving that you don’t always need to sacrifice style for functionality.

With any of these five boots paired with a warm coat, you’re sure to be prepared once winter comes around!
