This past week, Vice Presidential hopeful, Mike Pence stopped in Dunmore to speak about the upcoming election and rally support. He spoke Wednesday night at  Kenworth of Pennsylvania and discussed his vision for the nation and his work as Governor of Indianna. Having attended political rallies previously, I was interested to see how Pence would discuss his running mate and relate to Pennsylvania voters.

Governor Pence focused primarily on creating new jobs and safety on the homefront. Pence briefly mentioned his son who is a Marine and thanked the veterans numerous times which went over well with the PA crowd. Pence discussed the importance of individual liberties and discussed the importance of a stronger America at home and abroad.

When discussing Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, Penc enotes that she “left Americans in danger in Benghazi” and touched on her recent comments about the nature of Trump’s supporters specifically calling thm “deplorables.” Pence was quick to note that a person who has “low opinions of Americans” should not be elected “to the highest office in the land.” Additionally he questioned why the Democratic National Commitee was nominating a candidate that “literally represents everything America is tired of.”

Of his running mate, Pence nots that the media is using their “same tactics” despite the fact that “it’s now the media that decides the election, it’s the American people.” He notes that Trump will bring “integritiy to the highest office in the land” and that Americans are restless for change.”

Overall, Pence’s speech was thought-provoking, well scripted and well targeted to the voters of Pennsylvania. My two favorite lines of the night were when he referred to himself as a “B-List Republican celebrity” and noted that “the world is safer when America is strong.” Although I am not still sold on voting for Donald Trump and Mike Pence, this rally definitely gave me a lot to consider before the election.
