Glow With These Summer Beauty Must-Haves

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marywood chapter.

Warm, sunny rays and humid weather are rapidly approaching, which means we need to take extra care of sun-exposed skin. By just adding a few extra steps to your daily beauty regimen, you can significantly increase your chance of preventing the harmful effects of the sun such as wrinkles, sunspots and even skin cancer. Here are some summer beauty must-haves to stash in your beach bag!

1. Bronzer

We recommend Urban Decay Beached Bronzer, $28, ulta.com. Available in “Sun-Kissed” (light-medium bronze) and “Bronzed” (medium-dark bronze).

Bronzer enhances your tan and creates a radiant glow on your skin without the harmful effects of the sun or a tanning bed. Urban Decay Beached Bronzer is basically a spray tan in silky powder form. Dust the bronzer all over your face or your entire body to achieve a sun-kissed look. The formula is streak-free and coverage is sheer to create a natural matte finish rather than caked on. Bonus: The tropical artwork on the compact is adorable and the compact doubles as a mirror!

2. Facial Spray

We recommend Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herb and Rosewater, $7 for 4 oz, ulta.com.

Apply this refreshing and hydrating facial spray at anytime to freshen up your skin. The spray can also be used to set your makeup or to moisturize dry hair! This is also great for relieving and cooling a sunburn.

3. Moisturizer

We recommend Mario Badescu A.H.A. & Ceramide Moisturizer, $20 for 2 oz, ulta.com.

This daily moisturizer reduces and prevents wrinkles and sun-damaged skin. Aloe helps soothe and rejuvenate dull, dry skin while lemon extract works to reduce sun spots and uneven skin pigmentation. The formula is oil-free and feels like you’re not wearing anything at all!

4. Sunscreen

We recommend Sun Bum Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50, $15.99, ulta.com.

Sunscreen protects you from harmful, skin-damaging UVA/UVB rays. The moisturizing formula is full of Vitamin C, which has been proven to prevent premature skin aging. Lather up, collegiettes!

5. BB Cream/Tinted Moisturizer

We recommend Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector, $8.99, ulta.com.

Warm and humid weather can make you sweat your heavy foundation right off, as well as clog your pores. BB Cream is light-weight and won’t clog your pores. It’s coverage is sheer which allows your freckles and natural glowing skin to shine through. This BB Cream blurs imperfections, brightens and evens skin tone, smooths and hydrates, enhances and protects skin with SPF 30. Plus, your skin will practically feel naked!

6. Lip Balm

We recommend Eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm, $3.49 for .25 oz, ulta.com.

This unique shaped lip balm glides on lips with precision and ease. It also provides UVA/UVB protection and a healthy dose of Vitamin E, shea butter, and jojoba oil to keep your lips smooth and healthy. There are a variety of fun flavors to choose from such as “Strawberry Sorbet”, “Summer Fruit”, and “Blueberry”.

7. Frizz-Tamer

We recommend John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum, $9,99, ulta.com.

Humidity is bound to bring frizziness to your locks. This serum smooths, eliminates frizz and adds shine to even the poofiest, driest hair. It works to seal split ends and repel humidity and heat. Suitable for all hair types and can applied to wet or dry hair.
