Fashion has always been a form of expression. In recent years, fashion and philanthropy have come together as a means of giving back to all different kinds of charities.

TOMS: Initially starting with their “one for one” campaign that donates a pair of shoes for every pair purchased, TOMS has now expanded to provide clean water, eyeglasses, safe birthing capabilities and bullying prevention all over the world. For every pair of shoes, glasses or various apparel items, TOMS provides an additional item for someone in need. Since the creation of the program, TOMS has protected more than two million children from hookworm with their donations of shoes and medicine.

Love Your Melon: Founded in 2012 by college students in Minnesota, their mission is to put a hat on every child battling cancer in the United States. Through their buy one give one campaign, they have donated more than 45,000 hats made in the United States to

The Elephant Pants: Dedicated to protecting elephants from illegal poaching, The Elephant Pants does good one pair of Harem Pants at a time. As a corporate sponsor of the African Wildlife Foundation they donate a portion of the proceeds to protecting 35 different species of elephants.

Pure Vida Bracelets: Handcrafted bracelets made by Costa Rican artisans are central to this organization founded by two friends following a college graduation adventure. Pure Vida is now partnered with 190 charities and has donated more than $666,000 to date.

FEED: Creating quality bags, accesories and tees, FEED products strive to end childhood hunger. Each feed product is stamped with a number referring to the number of meals your item has given. Every product gives at least five meals to school children or necessary vitamin supplements.

Although these are only a few organizations that combine fashion with philanthropy, it is incredible to think of how much of a differnce your purchase makes on the lives of others.
