Trick or treat? Um, I’ll take the treat. Duh. Halloween is quickly approaching and the basic white girl that lives within us all is shrieking with excitement for fall flavors (*cough*, pumpkin, *cough*). I’ve searched the deepest depths of Pinterest and gathered up a list of the cutest, spookiest, and simplest treats to satisfy your sweet – and salty – tooth this All Hallows’ Eve. Bone Appetit! (See what I did there?)

1. Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats

These treats may not be pumpkin-flavored, but they look like a pumpkin and taste just as delicious!

Recipe from Blog Lovin’

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 10 oz of Marhmallows (approximately 1 bag)
  • Red and yellow food coloring
  • 12 Tootsie Rolls
  • 1 green Fruit Roll-Up (if you can’t find green, you can use the green/blue combo)

Directions:

  1. Melt your butter in a large sauce pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until melted
  2. Remove from heat. Add approx 4 drops of red food coloring & 2 drop yellow food coloring. Add until you have a nice bright orange color.
  3. Mix in Rice Krispies.
  4. Form small balls into the shape of a pumpkin (Tip: Add Non-Stick Cooking Spray (Pam) or Crisco to your hands before forming your balls)
  5. Cut Tootsie Roll in Half and add a half into each pumpkin while still warm
  6. Cut small leaves from the green portion of your Fruit Roll-Up.
  7. Eat and enjoy!

2. Witch Brooms

Doesn’t get much easier than this one. Plus, it’s the perfect blend of sweet and salty!

Recipe from Couponing to Disney

Ingredient:

  • Pretzel sticks
  • REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures

Directions:

  1. Insert pretzel stick into REESE’S cup.
  2. That’s literally it. If you’re feeling crafty, you can tie little bows around them.

3. Pretzel Bones

Feels so wrong, tastes so good.

Recipe from A Worthy Read

Ingredients:

  • 80 miniature marshmallows
  • 40 pretzel sticks
  • 16 oz white candy melting chips

Directions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Push a mini marshmallow on each end of a pretzel stick.
  3. Melt white candy by heating in microwave for 45 seconds, stirring and repeating until melted and smooth.
  4. Using a fork, dip in white chocolate to coat completely shaking off excess and placing on prepared sheet.
  5. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to set up.
  6. You can optionally use a sharp knife to trim off excess chocolate than ran off.
  7. Heat chocolate for another 30 seconds and stir.
  8. Dip each bone again (shaking off excess) and return to tray.
  9. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to set up.
  10. Eat and enjoy!
