There are many lessons to be learned in the silence of 2AM. The lessons that can be taught in silence are the lessons that will be the most valuable, the lessons that will stay with you forever. They are the lessons found in the sound of the silence that surrounds every part of you. The silence offers a special kind of clarity that the light always seems to hide, a clarity that is almost painful, a clarity that becomes foggy when the sun is shining. 2AM offers eyelids that won’t remain closed, a mind that won’t rest, and a heart that won’t stop aching. 2AM fosters an intense melancholy that engulfs you as you lay in a never ending darkness. There is a certain cruelty that 2AM offers. It is a time where thoughts run wild, thoughts that would never creep up on you if the sun were shining through your window. It offers a reminder of every heartache that you have ever felt. 2AM reminds you of your mistakes. It reminds you of your shortcomings and failures. It reminds you of your humanity. It reminds you how fragile sanity truly is. 2AM isn’t only a time but a state of mind. Some never get to leave 2AM.  For some, time stops at 2AM. For some, 2AM becomes them. 2AM wins and they are stuck in a never ending cycle of self-loathing, a never ending cycle of self-doubt, a cycle that continues until they slip into madness. A madness that becomes them and they are soon lost. Don’t allow 2AM to consume you. The thoughts that surface at 2AM are thoughts that should only be thought in the light. Don’t allow 2AM to get the best of you. 2AM doesn’t deserve the credit. Beat it.
