With summer break rapidly approaching, UMD students are planning to spend it in various ways, with some taking it as an opportunity to relax and others planning to work.

“I’m going back home and have applied for business internships there,” said freshman business management international student Gauri Jonnalagadda.

A Bangalore native, Jonnalagadda hopes to spend quality time with her friends and family while maximizing her professional opportunities by pursuing a summer internship.

Other students hope to get ahead academically and make the most of their summer.

“I’ll be taking summer classes this summer. I won’t have time for an internship, but I might keep working at my on-campus job,” said freshman bioengineering major Fatmatta M’Bai.

Whether relaxing at home, spending quality time with loved ones, or working, UMD students are always finding ways to make the most of their summer.
