With summer approaching and a new school year starting, students are looking into applying for and taking on part-time jobs or internships.
Many use networking events, guidance from their specialized departments, and the Career Center to find internships and gain deeper insight into the industries they want to work in. Platforms like Handshake and LinkedIn are also helpful for students to connect with others and seek out professional opportunities.
Rashmi Konaparthi, a sophomore accounting and government and politics major, plans to work at Uni Bank over the summer as a bank teller.
Others are still waiting to hear back from their internships and have made tentative plans.
“I might be working at an internship, but it’s not set in stone yet, so I’ll say I’m going to be studying to take the LSAT!” exclaimed Pragati Gautam, a sophomore government and politics major.
Others, especially first-year students, are still in the process of learning about internships and plan to apply in the near future.
For example, Fatmatta M’Bai, a freshman bioscience major, plans to continue working at her on-campus job over the summer and apply for internships in the upcoming summers.
Overall, college is what you make of it, and these students prove that by how they plan to use their academic careers and maximize their professional opportunities.
