Planning the perfect vacation can definitely be a difficult task. Finding inexpensive and exciting travel ideas can be incredibly complicated…when it comes to pleasing everyone involved and making an ultimate unanimous decision, vacation planning can easily shift from an exhilarating to an exhausting experience. We, at Her Campus Maryland, have created a short yet creative list of ideas for you to have the perfect winter break, without giving up on your planning before the break even begins.

1. ROAD TRIP!

A cross-country or even two-state road trip may seem an obvious option, but driving long distances with the music blasting, while having spontaneous adventures together will undoubtedly be an affordable and memorable experience for your close group of friends. For the beaches, drive down to South Carolina or Florida. For hiking in the mountains, arrange a trip to North Carolina or Tennessee. There is no limit to the amount of options you’ll have when it comes to the open road.

2. A budget cruise

A cruise to the Bahamas is not only affordable option, but also an experience with friends that you will never forget. Most cruises leave from Florida and range from three-day weekend cruises to weeklong cruises. Prices range from just over one hundred dollars to a few hundred, depending on the length and date of the cruise.

3. Winter is the time to go skiing!

For the perfect ski trip, Colorado and Vermont are among the best locations to go. Enjoy a day out on the slopes and cozy up by the fire with a hot chocolate at the end of your day. Definitely a trip you’ll remember for years!

4. Vegas is your winter wonderland!

A city filled with lights and music, Vegas is definitely an inexpensive, buzzing place to be for winter break. From rooftop parties to exciting shows, Vegas has everything you need to fill your vacation with days and nights you may or may not forget!

5. New Orleans is the new vacation hot spot

From its unique and tasty cuisine to its jazz music venues, New Orleans is definitely calling your name. Since Mardi Gras season has not yet begun, rates to stay in New Orleans are inexpensive during the winter.

Whether you plan on spending your entire vacation or just a few days at any of these locations, we promise that your winter break will be an experience that you will brag about when you return to school for the spring semester. Happy planning!
