The Latest Affordable Trends for Fall!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

Fall is upon us and it’s time to check out new trends for the season! As college students, we like affordable, but that doesn’t mean we have to compromise on cute clothes! Here are some fashion trends for the cooler season, all under $50.

1. Embroidered Everything

From bomber jackets to dresses, skirts to bags and even chokers! Embroidered detail is in for Fall 2016, and not just on the runway! This style is a great way to spruce up your look with chic detail. It can make a simple black dress go from boring to eye-catching, and there are so many styles and pieces to choose from at great prices.

2. Sequins

Forever 21 is bringing back sequins in full force! In addition to sequin chokers, they have the cutest selection of sequin bombers! This inexpensive trend is already great for the holiday season. If you’re looking for the perfect NYE dress, sequin pieces shouldn’t be hard to come by this year!

3. Pins and Patches

In addition to sequin flare, patches and pins are trending! The great thing about this look is that it’s totally cheap and DIY! It’s simple to create your own sweater or customized denim based on looks found at your favorite clothing store. The best part is, you can dress up your favorite denim jacket with a few pins, switch them up and eventually take them off with no damage done!

4. “Harvest Hues”

Rust red, mustard yellow and olive green are all popular color palettes for fall. You can layer these hues with neutral, earthy tones to create a classic look! Pair a poncho with cute brown boots, or leggings and a long sweater for a comfortable and trendy Thanksgiving look.

5. Capes, Oversized Cardigans and Ponchos

This trend is a favorite because it’s so easy to layer a cape, cardigan or poncho over a cute sweater, plus it’s cozy! You’ll get so much use out of a classic poncho. Whether you’re rocking a “harvest hue” or a cute patterned design, this fall-favorite will pull together the perfect look! Similar to a blanket scarf, it’s warm and stylish!

6. Corduroy/Shearling

There’s nothing like a brown corduroy jacket to make you feel like Nancy from Stranger Things! Corduroy is back in style in the form of adorable overalls and skirts, but you don’t have to spend your entire paycheck to rock this look! As if that wasn’t enough, shearling is taking the cozy-factor to a new level. Shearling vests and coats are a cute way to update your outfit and add an extra layer for warmth!
