The First Week of School in Photos

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

Summer’s over, so back to school we go. But school doesn’t just mean hitting the books and going to class. Students are sad to see summer go, sure, but campus offers its own brand of specialty. Here are a few pictures proving that, even with school in session, there’s more to be thankful for when you come back to school.

Sure, the mornings are early.

But at least the weather is warm and the sun is shining.

That means it’s nice enough for these architecture students to sketch out Somerset Hall.

Or do some “homework” outside.

Or hang out in the shade on the Mall.

Campus is roaring with construction, which can be a little annoying.

And then there’s always traffic.

It’s nothing some lunch from Stamp can’t solve.

Or some silliness from UMD’s notorious squirrels.

The sidewalks are covered in campus club chalkings again.

The Quidditch team is out practicing again.

So yeah, summer might be over. But you’re back for another new adventure at UMD. Why wouldn’t you be excited?
