Seven Cute Marquette Dates

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marquette chapter.

As college students, we don’t want to spend a lot of money. Finding fun places and money for dates with a special someone can be a process, whether if that person is someone you’ve been seeing for years or one week. Here are some creative ideas for dates on and off campus you can use year-round that don’t require you to break the bank on Ubers or admission rates.

1. The Annex

It’s often forgotten about once you’re an upperclassmen, yet it’s still a classy place to go. Get some dinner, watch sports and then play a round or two of bowling. Maybe there will be an event such as a concert going on as well; be sure to watch out for them in advance.

2. Mass at Gesu or Joan of Arc

If you and/or bae is religious, mass is a great way to connect spiritually. The church and chapel we have on campus are beautiful, and during mass you’ll probably be able to hold the person next to you’s hand!

3. Varsity movie nights

This is one of the staple dates, and it’s free and fun! With three options for show times every weekend, planning a local movie date with your cutie should be no problem.

4. The Haggerty

You’ve gone here for an English class before, and maybe some other classes, but have you ever gone here on your own or with a friend/love interest just for fun? Another campus location commonly forgotten about, the Haggerty is free and interesting. You’ll probably find something that you didn’t find when you were pressured to analyze something for class. Bonus: they’re always changing their exhibits to keep things fresh and sometimes have events going on.

5. Find a new campus spot

Try to find a spot on campus that neither of you have seen nor been to. Campus may seem small, or maybe you’re a freshman and it still seems large to you. However, finding a new spot on campus can give you a fresh perspective to the mysteries of Marquette. Maybe it’s in a building where you’ve never had class, or a grassy corner of campus you’ve never seen. Find a spot and spend some time there.

6. Milwaukee Public Museum

Just a few blocks off campus, this spot is probably the most educational you can get. Museum admission is always free on the first Tuesday of the month, so grab your special someone and learn about dinos, ancient civilizations, and see free flying butterflies from around the world.

7. Milwaukee Art Museum

Like the Public Museum, the MAM is open for free on the first Thursday of the month. If either of you are into art or feel like a leisurely stroll through galleries, this spot is the place for you.

In the end, remember that it doesn’t always matter where you go, because if you’re with the right company, your date will be a blast. Have fun!
